Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has directed the immediate commencement of a screening process for over 4,000 teachers who recently completed the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) programme.

The directive was issued on Monday during a ceremony for the distribution of instructional materials to public schools across the state.

Governor Yusuf emphasized that the move was part of his administration’s broader commitment to strengthening the education sector.

“This is part of our effort to reward dedication and ensure quality education delivery,” he said.

“Only those who are qualified and capable will be absorbed into the system.”

The governor instructed the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to commence the screening exercise without delay, noting that the BESDA staff would undergo an aptitude test to determine their eligibility for permanent employment.

“This move is not just about job creation; it’s about improving the quality of education in our public schools and ensuring our children are taught by qualified professionals,” Yusuf added.

According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the aptitude test will serve as a transparent yardstick for assessing the competence of the prospective teachers.
